Visiting and meeting with beneficiaries of the Eco Fair 2 Programme after the first year of implementation

Within the framework of the Programme “Development of Eco-Fair Women Businesses in Green and Circular Agriculture Sector in Vietnam (Eco-Fair Women Businesses)– Eco Fair 2”, funded by the European Union (EU), a working delegation conducted visits and working meetings with selected Programme beneficiaries following the completion of the first year of implementation.

Participants in the visit included Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Thu (Cooperation Section) and Ms. Phan Thanh Tam (Finance Section) from the Delegation of the European Union to Viet Nam; Mr. Nguyen Van Cop, Vice Chairperson of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang Province and Chairperson of the An Giang Provincial Farmers’ Union, together with officials of the Farmers’ Union; and Ms. Nguyen Bao Thoa, Director of the Viet Nam Rural Industry Research and Development Institute. The mission aimed to assess the initial results of the support activities, document changes in production and business practices in line with green and circular agriculture orientations, and gather feedback on challenges and practical needs from the beneficiary units.

At the visited sites, the delegation conducted on-site assessments of production models and held discussions with beneficiaries on the application of environmentally friendly technical solutions, product quality improvement, production process enhancement, and strengthened market access. Initial results indicate that the Eco Fair 2 Programme has contributed to raising awareness, strengthening capacity, and enhancing the proactiveness of beneficiaries in their transition towards sustainable agricultural models.

The Eco Fair 2 Programme has reaffirmed the importance of accompanying and supporting farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises in developing ecological agriculture, adapting to climate change, and meeting the requirements of both domestic and international markets.

The visit was a meaningful activity that helped strengthen linkages among stakeholders and provided a basis for the Programme to further refine and implement more appropriate support activities in the coming years, contributing to the promotion of green, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural development in Viet Nam.
