Planning and kick-off meetings of medicinal plants value chain development activities in Hoa Binh, Nghe An, Quang Tri And Quang Nam provinces

Within the framework of activities of the Sustainable Forest Management Component of the Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation (VFBC) project funded by USAID, from September 12 to 14, 2022, the Central project management unit and Provincial project management unit of VFBC Project in Hoa Binh, Nghe An, Quang Tri and Quang Nam provinces held 04 kick-off and planning meetings of the medicinal plants value chain development activities in 04 provinces.

In the meetings,therewere representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Central ManagementunitandProvincial Managementuni of  Hoa Binh, Nghe An, Quang Tri and Quang Namprovinces, representatives of the Consulting unit and 45 medicinalplantsenterprises and cooperatives in 4 provinces.

The objective of the meetings was to introduce activitiesofthemedicinal plants value chain developmentin the province; discuss and finalize the provincial intervention plan of the medicinal value chains in the locality; preliminary assessment of appropriate direct and indirect partners/beneficiaries to participate in medicinal plants value chain activities to improve livelihoods and reduce pressure on natural forests.

After the meetings, it is expected that in October 2022, the project will collaborate with the consulting unit to conduct an in-depth survey and assessment to select enterprises/cooperatives to participate in the medicinal value chain development activities in 04 provinces.
