Kick off workshop: Building export guidelines for Fruits to the Chinese market.

On August 24, 2017, in Hanoi, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – GIZ in collaboration with Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) to organize a kick-off workshop on the project: Building export guidelines for Water melon, Longan, Lychee and Dragon Fruits to the Chinese market within the program of GIZ Support for Economic Cooperation for initiatives in Sub-Regional Initiatives in Asia (SCSI). The objective of this activity is to support effectively for Vietnamese enterprises to export their products to the Chinese market.

On August 24, 2017, in Hanoi, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – GIZ in collaboration with Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) to organize a kick-off workshop on the project: Building export guidelines for Water melon, Longan, Lychee and Dragon Fruits to the Chinese market within the program of GIZ Support for Economic Cooperation for initiatives in Sub-Regional Initiatives in Asia (SCSI). The objective of this activity is to support effectively for Vietnamese enterprises to export their products to the Chinese market.

Over the past few years, the export of Vietnamese agricultural products to the Chinese market has been carried out mainly through the border gates of Lang Son, Quang Ninh and some provinces in the Northwest. Vietnam’s export of agricultural products to the Chinese market has achieved high growth, but there are still many difficulties such as the export through small quota. Therefore, export activities are not stable, price still low; preservation and processing technology is backward; Export products are also dispersed, leading to the occurrence of congestion in agricultural products at some border gates causing damage for economic.

Mr Florian Miss, Program Manager of Support for Economic Cooperation for initiatives in Sub-Regional Initiatives in Asia (SCSI) said that: GIZ highly appreciated the coordination of activities with the Management Board of Vietnamese SMEs Support Program which was lead by the Department for Trade Promotion in implementing this activity. The Guidelines are expected to bring practical effects, effective support for enterprises export to the Chinese market successfully.

Through the step-by-step guidelines, introduction import regulation of China, tips for SMEs and material link, it is expected that these guidelines will bring back practical value for SMEs which contribute to capacity building for SMEs as well as enhance the economic corporation in the sub-region

Nguyen Bao Thoa DBA and Nguyen Thi Hong Minh PhD are two main consultants for these guidelines. As planned, there will be four (4) guidelines corresponding to four (4) fruit products. Besides, the project shall have close collaboration of Trade Promotion Centers at provincial levels; the provinces that have two-way trade transactions with China such as Lang Son, Lao Cai, Bac Giang and Hai Phong; SMEs and other consultants in the field. In particular, the consultants will always consult closely with the relevant Ministries/Departments; especially Chinese Market Units, to stay on track and keep abreast of the reality.

These guidelines are implemented through the methodology of (1) secondary data research from legal documents, reports and data from state agencies, research reports, export guidance to the China market, documents of the Related Projects; (2) Collecting information through expert methods, in-depth interviews, group discussions from enterprises, professional associations, experts and agencies.

The first draft will be sent to experienced experts, speakers to review and comment on information, usefulness. These guidelines will be popular for business after adjustment and design.

The expected time to finish Export guidelines on January 2018.
