Promotion of supply and demand of Eco-Fair Agri-food processing products in Vietnam

The project was funded by the European Union, led by VIRI, co-implemented by CCS; VNCPC; Funzi in the period of 2020 – 2023. The project focuses on chain management to bring sustainability to the mind of green trade and facilitate the integration of MSMEs into the application chain. It will support the standard for solid hardware and raise consumer awareness of export products and consumer, and will build the strength of eco-safe MSMEs, creating a favorable environment to enhance the ability to implement the country’s key products on sustainable production and consumption. The project has empowered MSMEs in the field of fair ecological processing of agricultural products in Vietnam by providing sustainable products and consumption. The capacity of MSMEs in technology, RECP, eco-certification – enhanced work and access to finance gives them a long-term strategy to continue implementing healthy attitude – fair. The retail network has been fully established with Eco Fair partners and the ITC electronic platform ensuring the stability of operations without the need to pay additional platform maintenance fees. Consumers can benefit from the consumption of eco-fair products that are safe, healthy and affordable. The growing demand for such products will drive the entire manufacturing sector towards sustainable development. A supportive environment for SCP, capacity building of local institutions and dialogue will support the effective implementation of sustainable consumption in Vietnam, ensuring and supporting the gender equality, good governance, preservation of indigenous cultural values, protection of children and adolescents, and raising environmental awareness.

Vietnam Rural Industries Research and Development Institute (VIRI) is honor to cooperate with the Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO) to iimplement the project: “Supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to export through the guideline for verification of ‘Deforestation-free Commodity production‘ under EUDR regulations

The overall objectives are to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for exports and participation in global value chains (GVCs) through the development of guideline and capacity building for the implementation of deforestation-free agricultural commodity production, forest degradation to meet the trade requirements of agricultural products in the EU market as stipulated in the EUDR and in compliance with the provisions of Vietnamese law. The specific objectives are:

(i) Develop guideline for the implementation on deforestation-free agricultural commodity production meeting EUDR regulations;

(ii) Develop guideline for verification of deforestation-free agricultural products in the digital environment;

(iii) Support products and sectors with export potential as identified in the National Export Strategy until 2030
