8km of rough earth road from the center of Chau Khe Commune, Con Cuong District, Nghe An Province, there is a mountainous border town with 100 Thai households, Diem town.
People living in Diem town live mainly on forest exploitation so their livelihoods meet with many difficulties. With the local, the weaving has long become a trade in the mind of the
people. They always want to keep the wonderful value inherited from the previous generations, maintaining and developing rattan weaving. Rattan weaving group in Diem
town has 17 members, mainly women and disadvantaged people. The group has built an operational regulation, trained to improve technical skills, and trained to develop new
products. In addition, the group has received training on sales, customer service and market linkage.

The products are wholly natural using natural raw materials (giang, bamboo, rattan, etc.), produced by hand made processes. Using the skillful hands and the imaginative mind of the members, many products are born with the special characteristics. The products can be dyed by natural forest leaves and roots and patterns similar to Thai traditional patterns. Each patterns represents a different story characteristic to the mind of Thai people. The group products are guaranteed with high quality, good hygiene, natural origin, safe for
health. The product can be preserved and used for a long time. The product is completed and termiticide by smoke. The products are sold locally, in and out of the province. When participating in the group, members can improve their income, and support each other in daily lives, creating better togetherness in the community. Especially, the group has established solidarity fund. Every month, after finalizing salaries for each member, they will contribute to the solidarity fund. And this fund can be loaned out to members when met with difficulty or support children to go to school.
